The Aqmos R2D2-32 water softener is a compact cabinet-style water softening system designed to reduce water hardness in drinking and service water installations. It is suitable for smaller households and is used where limescale deposits in pipes, fittings, household appliances, and water heaters need to be reduced.
The unit operates as a single softener with ion exchange resin and is integrated directly into the household water installation. The included 1-inch connection set provides the central connection components required for installation as part of this product package.
The R2D2-32 is built as a cabinet-style water softener. Inside the housing is a GRP pressure vessel containing ion exchange resin; the cabinet also serves as the brine tank for salt solution preparation. Control is managed via the BNT 1650 control head, which regulates operation based on water volume with a time-delayed function.
An integrated fine blending valve allows the desired residual water hardness to be set. This enables fully softened water to be blended with raw water to achieve a practical water hardness level suitable for the household installation.
During operation, the system helps provide more consistent limescale protection in the home and can reduce limescale deposits on fittings, pipes, and water-bearing appliances. The compact cabinet design saves space, while the hinged lid provides easy access to the salt tank.
Automatic regeneration is carried out via the control valve. When the water hardness is correctly set and salt is refilled regularly, the system operates largely in the background and only needs to be checked, refilled, and serviced during daily use.
The Aqmos R2D2-32 is connected to the main cold water line and requires a drinking or raw water connection, a wastewater connection, and a 230 V / 50 Hz power outlet. A household water filter is recommended at the inlet to protect the system; if the raw water flow pressure exceeds 6 bar, a pressure reducer should be planned.
A mounting block with bypass and blending function may be useful depending on the installation situation, particularly to isolate the system from the household water network and conveniently adjust the residual hardness. The specific integration should be tailored to the existing water installation.

The water softening system is integrated into the household water installation after the water meter, water filter, and, if applicable, pressure reducer. Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel to ensure the water connection, flow direction, tightness, wastewater routing, and electrical supply are correctly implemented.
A suitable installation location, a wastewater connection, and a 230 V power outlet are required for installation. The location must be frost-free, dry, level, and protected from strong heat.
The system is intended for use in the drinking water sector and serves to reduce water hardness. Suitable regenerating salt tablets made from high-purity vacuum salt according to DIN 19604 and DIN EN 973 Type A may be used for operation.
The local raw water hardness should be checked before adjustment. For everyday use, a residual water hardness through blending is recommended so that the water does not enter the household installation completely softened.
